Gazprom Neft launches new Digital Transformation Directorate

Russia’s fourth-largest oil producer Gazprom Neft announced the creation in April of a new Digital Transformation Directorate (DTD) aimed at furthering its digital strategy. Headed by  Chief Digital Officer (CDO) Andrei Belevstev, it will be responsible for directing the company's technology roadmap, with the aim of improving the operational efficiency of all business processes.

Gazprom Neft has already implemented its own blockchain, AI, IoT and big data analysis systems. The new unit aims both create new platforms and to enhance the firm's existing use of these technologies.

The new body has begun assessing opportunities for synergies across the most viable projects. It will also be responsible accelerating corporate change and developing digital competencies.

Gazprom Neft’s plans include developing its own IT platforms for creating new information flows and datasets, and developing predictive analysis tools, with the requirements and architecture for a prototype platform already being worked out.

The company, a subsidiary of the state-owned Russian gas giant, is also to begin developing new products and services based around the implementation of cutting-edge digital technologies.

Gazprom Neft CEO Alexander Dyukov said that further developing this “crucial and integral area of activity” required a holistic and inclusive strategy, together with the identification of new — and breakthrough — opportunities for utilizing digital technologies throughout all areas of the company’s business.
